Since obtaining a Computer Systems diploma from my local technical institute (no not Devri or CDI) , I’ve been “working with computers” for over 20 years. I remember when RAM was $100.00/Megabyte!  Starting out as a spreadsheet jockey running Lotus 1-2-3 on PCs and XTs (a PC with a 5-15Meg hard drive)  I eventually  became the LAN administrator for dozens of ATs and ‘IBM compatibles’. I found myself the office ‘IT’ guy doing much of what is now done by whole departments.  Fun times!

I like to help people with computers. I like to see computers, and now the Internet, used to make peoples lives and jobs better. For the most part I have seen this happen. There  have been some technological blind alleys along the way. My philosophy is somewhat unique amonst my peers in that I’ve always felt that it’s the machine that serves the person not the other way around.

Every ‘IT guy’ makes predictions.  A now famous Intel founder stated that roughly every 2 years, the number of transistors on a microchip would double. I have my own version of this phenomena – Every 5 – 7 years what was a typical amount of storage will become a typical amount of memory.
